About this facility

The Helena-West Helena campus, located in Ophelia Polk Moore Home, offers a qualified residential treatment program (QRTP) for youth ages 12 to 18 facing emotional and behavioral challenges. With a focus on long-term care, residents live full-time in small group homes for 9 to 12 months or longer. The program is known for its supportive, family-like setting and individualized care approach. At the heart of the program is the teaching-family model, a well-established behavioral method led by trained teaching-parents who live with the youth. Through daily guidance, role modeling, and therapeutic support, residents learn to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and grow emotionally. Residents attend local public schools and develop real-life interactions that complement their treatment and prepare them for long-term success. Each home accommodates 8 to 12 residents and operates like a family unit, creating stability and emotional safety. With 24/7 care from teaching-parents, residents benefit from consistent routines, strong role models, and opportunities to engage in community life. This structure helps young people heal, grow, and prepare for their next steps in life.
