About The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is an Indigenous-focused inpatient facility for adolescents ages 13-17 struggling with a substance use disorder. With over 30 years of business, The Healing Lodge understands the complex nature of addiction and the importance of facing the issue with care and generosity. They are both CARF and Joint Commission accredited. The program takes place over 90-120 days depending on each adolescent’s personal needs. The center’s emphasis on cultural and spiritual values creates a comfortable space for adolescents to connect with each other and with themselves.
The program employs evidence-based clinical treatments to support adolescents in their recovery. Mental health counseling and substance use counseling are all provided alongside medical services and easily accessible on the campus. Support service programs, such as education, music, culture, recreation, and nutrition services, are encouraged as additional healing tools that foster creativity and personal growth. The program's cornerstone is trauma-informed care. This approach is essential because the center specializes in treating Native adolescents. It focuses on protecting each adolescent's cultural and personal identities while acknowledging both generational and intergenerational trauma. In addition to residential care, The Healing Lodge provides an aftercare plan focused around the home environment that the youth will be returning to. Outpatient services are provided at the Family & Wellness Health Clinic on the campus to ensure a continuum of care.
Located in Spokane Valley, Washington, the campus is situated on 51-acres of land. The facility includes 45 beds separated into gender-specific wings. Bedrooms include an outside view, twin beds, and bathrooms are located in each wing. The outside space includes contemporary amenities, such as a full basketball course, a baseball diamond, and an obstacle course. In addition, traditional elements are included to reflect their Native American culture, including tipis, sweat lodges, and a Medicine Wheel.
